Frequently Asked Questions
When do my dog needs be groomed?
People who care about their dog's skin and fur condition should take their dog for professional grooming at least every 4-6 weeks, even in winter. Leaving the dog's winter coat un-groomed for the whole season is like humans wearing a wet thick jacket that is stuck on the skin.
How long will it take for my dogs to be groomed?
Grooming time depends on the size, the coat condition, as well as the dogs emotional and behavioural status.
Usually S-M size takes 1.5-2 hours, Large breeds 1.5-3 hrs to complete a full groom session. I will give you a 10min call/msg before they are done.
Can I stay with my dog during the grooming?
This is not usually a good idea as to get the full co-operation of the dogs we must have their undivided attention. Most dogs behave much better without their owners there to distract them.
When the owner is present, the dog is so focused on the owner that it disrupts the grooming process. The dog will bark, try to lunge off the table, become very excited with the idea of you coming over to pet him.
This will make the task much harder for the groomer. Working with sharp tools makes it necessary to have 100% of the dog's attention on the groomer. We are using scissors and other sharp tools around your dog's eyes and other tender parts of the body. This can cause serious unnecessary accidents to occur.
Will my pet be sedated?
We never sedate dogs, nor do we accept dogs that have been sedated. If a dog is truly uncooperative or made uncomfortable by the grooming process,we may end the grooming session but we will never sedate your dog.
Will my dog be caged?
We very seldom require a dog to be put in a cage.
For safety reasons and to comply with the Animal Welfare, we cannot let the dogs run loose whilst we are working.
If an owner is running late and our grooming room does not permit the space for a dog to be left to sit then a dog will be caged awaiting collection. This will be done for the health and safety of the dog.
However, All unneutered male dogs, dog aggressive dogs, very shy/nervous dogs will be crated.
All of our cages are spacious and have plenty of room for even large breeds and provide a full view of whats going on in the grooming salon. Most of the time they are in our care we are working with them.
I’m not sure on what haircut my dog needs?!
Our team will be able to advise the best hairstyle to match your and the dogs lifestyle. We can show you similar clips for Breed Standard or Pet Clips so you can see what appeals to you. It may take a couple of grooms to perfect the right one!
You can also check our Facebook page and Instagram for lots of photos.
When should I start getting my puppy groomed?
Once your puppy has completed its vaccinations(at least 2nd one) it can start making regular visits for grooming. There are a lot of new experiences for your puppy to discover and the younger they start the easier it is for them.
What if my dog is timid or nervous?
We are always happy to try to work with nervous dogs. We like these dogs to come to the same groomer each visit to build up a relationship with that person. Most dogs are groomed straight through, allowing them to be picked up within a few hours as opposed to being left all day.
